About Dhanteras

Dhanteras, also called Dhanatrayodashi, falls on Kartika Krishna Trayodashi (Ashwina in the amanta calendar), two days before Diwali. Dhanvantari and Lakshmi are worshipped in the evening during Pradosh Kaal. A lamp is lit at the door for Yama. Buying new utensils or metal on this day is a common custom.
