About Krishna Janmashtami (Smarta)

Krishna Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Krishna on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami (Shravana in the amanta calendar). This page follows the Smarta date, based on Ashtami at midnight together with Rohini nakshatra. Devotees fast through the day. The main puja is held at Nishita, around midnight, when the birth is celebrated.
